Protect Your Home While On Summer Vacation

Your bags are packed, your trip is planned, and you are ready to take your hard-earned summer vacation. Many people take advantage of the warm summer months and school being out to take their vacations, making the summer months peak season for home invasions. Before you depart, follow these helpful tips so you can enjoy a worry- free vacation.

  • Lock up: Take a few moments to set your alarm and double check all doors and windows of your home are shut and locked before you depart.

  • Stimulate occupancy: Set lights on a timer both inside and outside your home to make it appear like someone is home.

  • Trust your neighbor or friend:  Nothing screams "I am out of town" more than mail piling up in your mailbox. Have a trusted neighbor or friend keep an eye on your home, and collect your mail while you are away.  You may also visit your local post office and stop your mail from being delivered while you are away.

  • Avoid posting on social media:  Wait to post your amazing vacation photos until you return home.
