Are you prepared for the 2019 Hurricane Season?

The 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season begins on June 1st. Although the predictions for this year's Hurricane Season are expected to be less active than last year, we know it can only take one storm to create devastating and costly damage. The best way to ensure the safety of your family and home is to prepare. Here are a few preparation tips to consider:

Stock up on Supplies: When a hurricane is on the horizon, chaos ensues when trying to purchase provisions and supplies. It is best to gather your supplies well before a hurricane is approaching. Click here for a list of must-have items on your supply list.

Have an Evacuation Plan: In the event you and your family need to evacuate your home, it is important you have a plan in place well before it is time to leave. Discussing your plans and assigning responsibilities with your family ahead of time will help keep everyone calm and collected while evacuating. Be sure to bring all necessary supplies including important documents, medications, a supply of cash, and any other items you may need. Remind your family members to stick together and establish a designated meeting spot should anyone become separated. Pets should never be left out of your evacuation plans. Don't forget to pack food and other supplies for all the pets in your household.

Preparing Your Home: There are many steps you can take to prepare your home before a hurricane strikes. Be sure to clear objects from your yard, trim trees and shrubs, declutter your gutters and drains, and have your hurricane shutters in an accessible location. Insurance Coverage:  Now is the best time to read through your policy to be sure you are completely covered should a disaster strike.
